"Lacrosse showcases the best of sports — speed, athleticism, skill, heart, determination — and it’s a recipe for a lifelong love affair."
- U.S. Lacrosse
Equipment
A stick, mouth guard and protective eyewear are the only required items for most players. Headgear and close fitting gloves are optional for field players. Goalies are also required to wear a helmet with face mask, a separate throat protector, padded gloves and a chest protector.
HYDRATION & NUTRITION
"A healthy diet and good eating habits are essential for a young athlete's development and performance."
- U.S. Lacrosse
Hydration
Physical activity, heat, and humidity increase the amount of fluid your body needs to stay properly hydrated. We are in Texas... hydrate before every practice and game. Be prepared with a water bottle to rehydrate while exercising in practice and games.
Nutrition
The physical demands of practices and games are different from day to day and your diet should reflect these differences. Carbohydrates are the body’s main source of energy and the most important nutrient for athletes. What we take into our bodies is what we use for energy, and energy is what we need to perform in the classroom and on the athletic field.
